The Anderson County Commission will meet Monday, September 19, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 312 of the Courthouse in Clinton.
Among the items on the agenda will be the election of a chair, vice chair, and parliamentarian.
Commissioners could head into executive session during the meeting as Anderson County Law Director Jay Yeager’s report to the Commission indicated that a settlement offer has been made in the wrongful termination lawsuit filed by former Public Works Department employee Lisa Crumpley, who sued the county alleging that she had been fired in retaliation for cooperating with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation on an investigation into her former boss David Crowley. Crowley was indicted last October on charges of illegally inspecting buildings without the proper certification, and he fired Crumpley the day the indictment was unsealed. He was ultimately acquitted in the spring by a jury. No details of that potential settlement have been made public, but it will require Commission approval.
Commissioners will also consider several resolutions passed along to them by the Operations Committeee. One would allow ATV riders to ride their machines on Windrock Road, Hoskins Gap Road, and Cove Road. Another resolution would encourage the Tennessee Department of Transportation to make widening Edgemoor Road in the Claxton community a priority and express the commission’s support for increased funding for TDOT to make that project a reality.
A third resolution would establish fees for owner-surrendered animals at the Anderson County Animal Control Facility. All animals surrendered at the facility on Blockhouse Valley Road would be subject to a $10 fee per animal surrendered and $15 for every litter of puppies or kittens surrendered at the facility.
For those who can’t make it, the meeting will be televised live by ACTV on Comcast Cable channel 95.
