The City of Oak Ridge is gearing up to begin the end-of-year recruitment for board and commission members. The recruitment process began October 1, a press release said.

This year’s process is similar to previous years in that interested residents must complete a Boards and Commissions application available on the City Clerk’s departmental website or by visiting www.oakridgetn.gov/online/cityclerk/bcelections.

Applicants may also attach additional documents that includes cover letters, references, and resumes. The application allows residents to choose and rank their top three board choices for membership consideration.

Paper editions of the online application are also available in the City Clerk’s Office located in Room Number 109 in the Municipal Building.

Currently, the city staff is reviewing the composition of the Senior Advisory Board to provide a recommendation to the Oak Ridge City Council on October 13. Following a final determination by the City Council, the application will be adjusted to include a selection for consideration to the SAB, and the new composition will be published for the public’s review to include interests and backgrounds in senior-related issues.

To be considered, completed applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. on Friday, November 7. Late applications or submissions will not be considered.

The election for all boards will take place at a special meeting of the Oak Ridge City Council on Monday, December 15. Interested residents can also visit the city’s website to learn about the different boards’ composition, purpose, and meeting schedules, and to review the special qualifications for membership to certain boards.

For more information, contact City Clerk Diana Stanley at (865) 425-3411 or dstanley@oakridgetn.gov.
