Friends and family are searching for a 17-year-old Oak Ridge High School student who hasn’t been seen since he left his father’s house in west Knox County on foot at midnight Saturday, a family friend said.
Searchers are meeting at 9:30 a.m. today (Monday)Â at Concord Park on Northshore Drive to hunt for Andy Allen, an ORHS senior, family friend Betsy Coleman said.
Allen is 5’9″ and has blue eyes, dark hair, and a shaved head, Coleman said.
Allen’s father, Kevin Allen, is an assistant district attorney general for Knox County who lives in the Northshore Drive and Westland Drive area, Coleman said.
She said the last ping from Andy’s cell phone came at about 3 a.m. between Northshore Elementary School and George Williams Road, near Concord Park.
Coleman said Allen, who lives in Oak Ridge with his mother Barb Allen, didn’t make any calls or send any text messages after he left his father’s house after a reported confrontation. It’s not clear where he was headed, Coleman said. She said a review of a video tape at the Pilot gas station on Northshore Drive—the only business open at that time of night—did not show that Allen had entered the store.
Coleman said Andy Allen has been reported missing to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oak Ridge Police Department has also been made aware of his disappearance. Anyone who has information on Allen can call the Knox County Sheriff’s Office or the Oak Ridge Police Department, Coleman said. They can also call Coleman at (865) 919-3208.
Some updates have been posted on an Oak Ridge High School feed on Twitter for AP Environmental Sciences. Allen was a student in that class last year.
