Learn more about the three candidates for Anderson County mayor and two candidates for Anderson County sheriff on Thursday morning at the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce.
The first “Election Selection” event is 7:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, in the Joyce Conference Room at the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce. It’s open to the public.
All five candidates for mayor and sheriff have confirmed their plans to attend, the Chamber said. Here are the candidates:
Anderson County Mayor
- Terry Frank
- Jim Hackworth
- Bradley Rickett
Anderson County Sheriff
- Paul White
- Anthony Lay
There will be time to meet the candidates during unstructured social time followed by a structured question-and-answer session, a press release said.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to talk with candidates and learn first-hand their thoughts and positions on key issues facing our community,” the Chamber said.
It’s one of several events scheduled by the Chamber’s Pro-Growth Advocacy Task Force to allow voters to learn more about candidates running for office in the upcoming elections. The next election is on Aug. 7, and it includes the Anderson County general election and state and federal primary elections.
Other “Election Selections” are scheduled for:
- Monday, July 14, at 7:30 a.m.—Republican primary candidates for U.S. House of Representatives in District 3
- Tuesday, July 15, at 7:30 a.m.—Candidates for Anderson County Commission Districts 6, 7, and 8
The Chamber said the Election Selection on July 15 with incumbent Chuck Fleischmann and his challenger Weston Wamp will be the only opportunity to hear the two men discuss the issues together in Oak Ridge before the August primary.
“We hope you’ll take advantage of this unique opportunity,” the Chamber said.
All of the Chamber’s candidate events will be held in the Joyce Conference Room from 7:30-9 a.m., and they are open to the public.
