Caitlyn Aileen Jordan

Caitlyn Aileen Jordan, age 21, of Oak Ridge, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, in her mother’s arms. Caitlyn was born in Knoxville on Sept. 25, 1992. Caitlyn entered this world a fighter, much like how she left it.

Caitlyn attended Oak Ridge High School and was very involved with Special Olympics. She enjoyed time with her family, swimming, bowling, attending Camp Koinonia, and listening to her favorite singer, Reba McEntire. In 2006, Make-A-Wish Foundation sent Caitlyn, her brother, and her parents to Disney World, where Caitlyn enjoyed meeting Minnie Mouse and riding the rollercoasters. Caitlyn’s sky blue eyes and sparkling smile lit up every room she entered. Caitlyn was truly a joy to every person who knew and loved her.

Caitlyn is preceded in death by her grandparents, James Carl and Nancy Sharp. Caitlyn is survived by her mother, Cynthia Jordan; father, Brian Laster; brother, Brandon Laster; “Nana,” Aileen Horner; “Papaw,” Lewis Horner; aunt Becky Lowe and uncle Jeremy Lowe; cousins Alysha, Bryli, and Daylin; uncle Jaymee Sharp and aunt Renee Sharp, and cousins Brett, Christopher, and Kristina. The family would like to especially thank the Special Education Department and support staff of Oak Ridge Schools for their dedication, love, and support over the years.

The family received friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, at Ridgepoint Church at 8000 River Drive in Oak Ridge (Solway). The funeral followed and was officiated by Pastor Robert Melton, and the Reverend Gerald Littlejohn also spoke.

Since purple was Caitlyn’s favorite color, the family requested that attendees wear something purple to the service, if possible. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to Cynthia Jordan at Home Federal Bank in Oak Ridge.
