Cedar Hills Drive Fire

A Wednesday morning fire on Cedar Hills Drive in Anderson County heavily damaged a home, RV, and camping trailer.

The fire was reported at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at 210 Cedar Hills Drive. It apparently started in the attic, according to an Anderson County Sheriff’s Department report. The cause was not known, but it was not believed to be an arson, the report said.

A witness who lives nearby reported seeing flames coming out of the attic.

Fire departments from Marlow, Clinton, Medford, and Claxton all responded, and so did the Anderson County Emergency Medical Services and Anderson County Sheriff’s Department. Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours, photographer Tom Scott said.

Cedar Hills Drive is off Highway 61, or Oak Ridge Turnpike, between Oak Ridge and Clinton.

More information will be added as it becomes available.

Hey John I just wanted to let you know that Red Cross also responded to this house fire. Two volunteers responded and got the family some help with replacing clothes and food. Fortunately the family had a place to go and stay, but Red Cross will continue to keep in contact with them and help them form a long term recovery plan.

Thanks for reporting on all of these fires John and allowing me to get the message out there that Red Cross has been there for every single one of the families affected. I think it’s important to keep everyone updated on what is going on in Anderson County, good and bad, and you do a great job with that.
