Attorney Brian Hunt has announced that he is running for Anderson County Juvenile Court judge.

Hunt now serves as a judge advocate general at the rank of captain in the U.S. Army Reserves and has served as Lake City municipal judge since 2006, a press release said.

Hunt grew up in Clinton, attending Clinton Elementary School and Clinton Middle School, and he graduated from Clinton High School in 1996. He later received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 2000 from The University of the South-Sewanee in Tennessee. He graduated from Ohio Northern University Law School in 2003 and began practicing law in 2003.

In the press release, Hunt said he always wanted to return to Anderson County after completing his education.

“The Clinton and Anderson County schools gave me a strong academic foundation for my college and law school education,” Hunt said. “My law practice has centered on helping families across the county, including representing juveniles. Growing up in Anderson County and maintaining a strong connection with the community underlines my desire to serve Anderson County families as their juvenile judge.”

Hunt is a graduate of the Judge Advocate General School’s in Charlottesville, Va., and the United States Army Infantry School in Ft Benning, Ga. He said he is concerned about the welfare of children across Anderson County.

“My experience in Juvenile Court over the past decade has taught me there is not a more important job in local government than the Juvenile Court Judge, who is charged with the protection and care of our children,” Hunt said. “We have a duty and an obligation to make sure our children are safe. I intend to be responsible and accountable to the taxpayers of Anderson County and accountable to the families that depend on the court. I promise to work very hard and go the extra mile to serve the citizens of Anderson County.”

Hunt lives with his wife Betsy in Clinton. They are members of St. Therese Church in Clinton.
