Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank will discuss her first year in office during Lunch with the League on Tuesday.
The lunch starts at noon Tuesday in the Social Hall of the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church.
Frank was elected in August 2012 to serve a two-year term as Anderson County Mayor, completing the unexpired term of former mayor Rex Lynch, who resigned in January 2011 after being indicted for sales tax fraud. She was sworn into office on Sept. 1, 2012.
In addition to providing an overview of her first year in office, Frank will also discuss the changes and challenges of county government, a press release said.
The mayor’s duties include administering the day-to-day activities of county government and serving as the county’s chief financial officer and the official spokesperson for Anderson County. The county mayor also allocates particular duties of the county to departments of her choosing and organization, the release said. She is then responsible for appointing individuals to head and staff the departments she creates, as well as supervising those appointees.
Lunch with the League is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge, and it is open to the public. There is no cost to attend, and reservations are not needed. Box lunches will be available starting at 11:30 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis for $8, or you may bring your own. Coffee and tea are provided.
The Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church is located at 1500 Oak Ridge Turnpike (traffic light # 11).
