The Oak Ridge Police Department will take unused medicines and won’t ask for identification on Saturday morning.
From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, people will be able to drop off old and expired drugs at the ORPD headquarters at 200 S. Tulane Ave.
Titled “Operation Medicine Cabinet,” the event is being conducted with help from Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention of Anderson County.
For more information, call ORPD Officer Daniel McFee at (865) 556-6696 or visit www.asapofanderson.org.
You can drop off any unused, unwanted, or expired prescription medications as well as antibiotics and steroids, cold and flu medication, vitamins and herbal supplements, pet medications, medication samples, medicated ointments and lotions, and unused sharps or other pricking devices with no questions asked and no names given. Organizers will not be accepting business waste or used needles and sharps.
These events are held to cut down on the abuse of prescription medications and to ensure that they disposed of properly without seeping into the water supply. Any packaging materials will be recycled.
