This month’s seminar at the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce will feature a discussion of workers’ compensation reform.
Led by Amanda Inman Lowe, it’s scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chamber office in Clinton.
The seminar is titled “Workers’ Compensation Reform: What You Need to Know.”
A press release said the Tennessee General Assembly in Nashville is considering several amendments to the current workers’ compensation law.
“These amendments are designed to be more employer-friendly, with an eye for making Tennessee a more employer-friendly state,” the release said. “Key proposed amendments that will be reviewed are the amendments that affect the use of impairment ratings, the ‘remedial construction’ of the law in favor of the employee, the grid system of resolving cases, and the new incentives to use MIR physicians for panels. The discussion will focus on the most significant changes and how those changes will affect the daily operations of human resources and workers’ compensation professionals.”
The release said Lowe is a senior associate in the Knoxville office of Wimberly Lawson Wright Daves and Jones PLLC. She joined the firm in October 2011.
Her law practice focuses on workers’ compensation defense, employment law, general civil practice, and subrogation. Lowe graduated from the University of Tennessee-Martin as a magna cum laude University Scholar with a bachelor’s degree in English. She obtained her doctor of jurisprudence degree in 2005 from the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville.
The release said a “Chamber Chatroom†lunch is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
