An Oliver Springs man charged with aggravated child abuse is accused of hitting a 14-month-old boy at Walmart in Oak Ridge on Tuesday, arrest warrants said.
A witness said she saw David Lambert, 61, hit the child several times in the face with his fingers in what “she called a downward reverse motion,” the warrants said.
The witness also said she heard Lambert tell the child to take a formula bottle or “I will shove the son-of-a-bitch down your throat,” Oak Ridge Police Department Officer Clint Foland said in affidavits filed in Anderson County General Sessions Court.
Foland said the boy had bruising on his face and head and had a deep purple mark across the bridge of his nose “consistent with the witness statement.”
Lambert was located in Oliver Springs minutes after the lunchtime incident and detained by the Oliver Springs Police Department, the warrants said.
The witness identified Lambert as the person she observed hitting the child, Foland said.
Lambert has been released from the Anderson County Detention Facility in Clinton. His bond has been set at $100,000, and he has a court hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. March 21.

It is great that someone will stand up and stop child abuse when they see it. Hats off to the lady.
Sarah Johnson says
That’s so heartbreaking that someone could treat a little sweet baby like that. I am thankful the lady reported it and I hope that the authorities will make this man go to some sort of anger management.
