Keep Anderson County Beautiful is having two clean-up kickoff events and litter awareness campaigns in March.

It’s part of the 2013 Great American Cleanup Clean-up Challenge, a press release said.

The first event will be on Saturday, March 2, at the Oak Ridge Civic Center in the west side parking lot area. The second is scheduled for Saturday, March 9, in Norris, in front of the Norris Post Office. Both events are from 9 a.m. to noon.

At both events, KACB will hold its annual membership drive.

“For a $25 donation, individuals can become an active part of Keep Anderson County Beautiful and receive a free T-shirt and litter grabber, litter awareness information, and refreshments,” the press release said. “Participants are encouraged to sign up at the kickoff to take the challenge.”

In Anderson County, organizers hope to get 400 volunteers to join KACB to clean up a half-ton of litter in March, or 25 pounds per person. Civic groups, individuals, families, neighborhoods, churches, youth groups, and businesses are urged to accept the challenge, the press release said.

To register in advance of the kickoff or afterward, contact KACB at (865) 264-0648. Free clean-up materials are available from KACB.

“Together, we can make a big difference in awareness of the importance of a litter-free community,” the press release said.
