Anderson County has been awarded almost $30,000 in federal funds under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.
The money will be used to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county, the United Way of Anderson County said in a Wednesday morning press release.
A local board consisting of representatives from the United Way and other local nonprofit and governmental agencies will determine how the funds will be awarded to emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations in Anderson County, the release said.
Eligibility for funding requires agencies to be voluntary nonprofit agencies or government units, have accounting systems, practice nondiscrimination, and demonstrate the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs. Private voluntary organizations must have voluntary boards, the release said.
Organizations interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds must get an application from Rick Morrow, United Way of Anderson County executive director, by calling (865) 483-8431 or sending him an e-mail at [email protected]. The application deadline is Dec. 14.
