There are two forums this week in Oak Ridge featuring candidates in the Tennessee primary election and Anderson County and Roane County general elections in August.
The forums have been organized by the League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge, and the public is invited.
Early voting begins in both counties on Friday, July 12.
The Anderson County forum is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 9. It will take place at the Oak Ridge Campus of Roane State Community College in Room 107 in the Goff Building.
The Roane County forum is two days later, starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11. It will take place at the Oak Ridge Campus of Roane State Community College, also in Room 107 in the Goff Building.
Candidates without opposition will be introduced, a press release said.
All candidates with opposition will be introduced. Then, they will be given an opportunity to make an opening statement, and they will be given equal opportunities to answer randomly selected questions from the audience, the press release said. The forum will end with a closing statement from each candidate.
There will be an opportunity for the public to meet and greet the candidates after the forum, the press release said.
The League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge is a nonpartisan political organization for men and women, the press release said. It encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
