An Oak Ridge man has been charged with attempted murder and attempted robbery after a woman was allegedly shot in the face on May 20 while the man allegedly tried to take her vehicle.

Miccarrow D. Trice Jr., 25, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and attempted especially aggravated robbery.

The charges were filed in Anderson County General Sessions Court in Oak Ridge on May 21. Trice’s bond has been set at $175,000.

The shooting was reported at Manhattan Apartments on North Purdue Avenue at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 20.

When officers arrived, they found the woman in the apartment parking lot with a gunshot wound in her face, the Oak Ridge Police Department said. The woman was taken to a local hospital to be treated.

A witness said the woman was shot during an argument over her car, according to arrest warrants filed by ORPD Detective Kevin Craig.

The witness said Trice tried to take woman’s car keys by force and with a deadly weapon. The woman’s injuries and physical evidence were consistent with the statements by the witness, Craig said.

The warrants said Trice tried to kill the woman by shooting her while attempting to rob her by taking her vehicle.
