A Roane County man has been charged with the theft of more than $250,000 and knowing abuse, neglect, or exploitation, according to Anderson County court records.
Malbern Robert Edington, 37, was indicted by the Anderson County Grand Jury in Clinton on August 7. He has an arraignment scheduled for Friday in Anderson County Criminal Court in Clinton.
Edington, who lives in Roane County north of Oak Ridge, was arrested August 24 by John Thomas of the Oak Ridge Police Department. He remained jailed at the Anderson County Detention Facility in Clinton on Thursday night. His bond has been set at $100,000.
The two-count indictment filed in the case said Edington stole U.S. currency valued at more than $250,000 from the alleged victim, Charles Stuber, between December 18, 2014, and September 21, 2017. The indictment also said Edington abused, neglected, or exploited Stuber.
Theft of more than $250,000 is a Class A felony in Tennessee. Knowing abuse, neglect, or exploitation is a Class D felony.

Someone can be indicted before they are arrested? Why didn’t this case go through General Sessions and languish there for 2 years before the Grand Jury heard it? Why does someone that’s been charged with 2 felonies have to go thru General Sessions when you can’t plead guilty to a felony in General Sessions court?? It’s a waste of taxpayers money and time.
That was my experience in dealing with the justice system and the thief that stole my motorcycle.
