Undefeated in the district this season, the Oak Ridge Wildcats will play Karns in the championship game in the District 3-AAA tournament at home tonight.

The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at the Pro2Serve Soccer Complex at Oak Ridge High School.

Oak Ridge beat Powell 3-0 in a semifinal game on Monday to advance to the district championship. Nathan Kidder, Carson McGhee, and Jordan Snyder scored goals for Oak Ridge in that game.

The Wildcats finished number one in the district with a 4-0 record, beating Campbell County, Halls, Karns, and Powell during the regular season, and the Panthers again during the playoffs on Monday.

The Wildcats have won the District 3-AAA championship four years in a row. If they beat Karns tonight, it would be their fifth district championship in a row.

The young Oak Ridge team lost 11 seniors after last season. The Wildcats have three seniors and 11 juniors, and only three starters returned from last year.

But Oak Ridge has played close games against some other top non-district teams in the area, including a 1-0 loss to Maryville on April 12 and a 3-2 loss to Hardin Valley on April 26.

More information will be added as it becomes available.
