Oak Ridge High School freshman Andrew Lee is undefeated in his first season playing tennis as a Wildcat.

Lee, who is playing at number one singles and doubles, has won won 18 singles and doubles matches against Maryville, Hardin Valley, and seven District 3 tennis teams, Coach David Bowman said.

“His sportsmanship and record has established him as a leader on the courts, plus he is humble and a great teammate off the courts,” Bowman said. “ORHS looks forward to having him represent the Wildcats in East Tennessee’s TSSAA tournaments starting the second week of May at Tyson Park.”

The Oak Ridge tennis teams have one home match left this season to play. It’s at 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, against Powell High School.

You can see the ORHS district results on Facebook if you want to see individual match scores.

Fourteen seniors are on the ORHS tennis teams. They are Ethan Brady, Audrey Chrisman, Inna Diawara, Stuart Dorman, Jackie Garcia, Alexis Hammond, Morgan Loggins, Elizabeth Lowman, Jasleen Narula, Stephanie Romanoski, Teagan Russell, Henry Shen, Kaitlin Summers, and Paulina Urbanowicz.

“A generous donor purchased the banners hanging at the tennis facility in front of the high school,” Bowman said. “The banners commemorate the players’ contributions to the Wildcat and Lady Wildcat tennis programs.”

The teams had another home match this week, on Monday against Campbell County. That game had been rescheduled due to rain earlier this month.

The Anderson County tennis teams split with Oak Ridge High School on Tuesday, April 9, during their District 3 contest.

“The Lady Wildcats were missing five starters from the team but still earned three points in a 3-6 defeat,” Bowman said. “Jasleen Narula earned two points for the Lady Wildcats winning #1 singles 8-3 and #2 doubles with partner Liza Williams 8-5. The third point came at #4 singles by Melody Guo over Tori Pyatt.

“The score was flipped for the Wildcats, who won 6-3. Close wins for the Wildcats came at #2 singles by Ethan Brady over Wesley Zemke 8-6 and at #1 doubles by Andy Lee and Stuart Dorman defeating Sheev Patel and Carter Utley 8-7(2).”

The Wildcats played Clinton at home on Thursday, April 11.

Oak Ridge defeated the Gibbs Eagles 9-0 and the Central Bobcats 9-0 in the first week of April to start 2-0 in District 3 play.
