Sample ballot for August 2 county election, state & federal primaries

Here is the sample ballot for the August 2 general election in Anderson County. There are also write-in candidates who have been campaigning for some of these offices, although they don’t appear on the ballot.

The county general election includes selections for mayor, sheriff, county commission, trustee, circuit court clerk, county clerk, register of deeds, road superintendent, and school board, among other positions. Some of the candidates have no opposition.

County mayor

  • Terry Frank (Republican)
  • Donnie Rosenbalm (write-in)

Sheriff

  • Russell Barker (Republican)
  • Mark Lucas (Democrat)

Circuit court clerk

  • Rex Lynch (Republican)
  • Robbie Fulton (write-in)
  • Alden Souza (write-in)

County clerk

  • Jeff Cole (Republican)

Trustee

  • Ebony Capshaw (Democrat)
  • Regina Copeland (Republican)

Register of deeds

  • Tim Shelton (Republican)

Road superintendent

  • Gary Long (Republican)

Anderson County has eight County Commission districts, with two commissioners elected per district. These are non-partisan positions, meaning candidates don’t identify as Democrats or Republicans. School board races are also non-partisan.

The August 2 election will also include state and federal Democratic and Republican primary elections, including for Tennessee House of Representatives in District 33 and District 36, Tennessee Senate in the Fifth District, Tennessee governor, U.S. House of Representatives in the Third District, and U.S. Senate.

Tennessee House of Representatives, District 33 (most of Anderson County, including Oak Ridge)

Democratic primary

  • Richard Dawson of Clinton
  • Nathaniel Varner of Oak Ridge

Republican primary

  • John D. Ragan
