The Oak Ridge boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will play Blackman of Murfreesboro at Wildcat Arena at Oak Ridge High School on Saturday afternoon.

The girls’ game starts at 3 p.m., and the boys’ game begins at 4:30 p.m.

The Blackman Blaze (17-0, 4-0 District 7-AAA) are undefeated. The Wildcats are 11-5 overall, and 7-0 in District 3-AAA.

Oak Ridge beat Blackman 57-53 last season, on December 10, 2016. The two teams had previously met in the Class AAA state championship game on March 15, 2014, when Blackman won 60-58.

The Oak Ridge girls are 13-4 overall and 7-0 in District 3-AAA, while the Blackman girls are 11-6 and 3-1 in District 7-AAA.

The Lady Wildcats beat the Blackman girls last season 64-53 on December 10, 2016.

Oak Ridge was scheduled to play Karns for the second time this season on Friday (January 19), but those games were canceled at the request of Karns school administrators. It’s not clear if the cancellations were related to the winter weather. The games are expected to be rescheduled.

The Oak Ridge boys beat the Karns Beavers 101-73 on December 5. In the girls’ game, the Lady Wildcats won 100-16 in December.

Meanwhile, the Oak Ridge-Powell games at home, which had been scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, have been rescheduled for Thursday, January 25, at Wildcat Arena. Those games were postponed this week because of the winter weather.

More information will be added as it becomes available.
