Updated story:

The three adults found dead on Oak Lane on Thursday morning each had a single gunshot wound, authorities said.

The three were found dead during a welfare check at 101 Oak Lane at about 8:03 a.m. Thursday. They have been identified as:

  • Michael Deuschle, age 49
  • Tessa Deuschle, age 43
  • Chelsea Kessel, age 24

The city said a preliminary investigation leads officers to believe that the females were shot first at close range, and then the man shot himself.

Detectives with the Oak Ridge Police Department believe this to be an isolated incident, and citizens do not need to be alarmed, the City of Oak Ridge said in a press release. Officers do not believe there are any additional victims in this case. The investigation is ongoing.

Oak Lane is off Outer Drive near California Avenue in north Oak Ridge.

Three people were found dead at a home on Oak Lane in north Oak Ridge on Thursday morning, authorities said.

The Oak Ridge Police Department responded to the home to perform a welfare check at about 8:03 a.m. Thursday, the City of Oak Ridge said in a statement.

There was no answer at the front door when officers arrived. A potential victim could be seen through the window, so officers entered the home, the statement said.

The responding officers then exited the home, secured the area, and called investigators to the scene, the city said.

Detectives with the Oak Ridge Police Department do not believe there are any more victims in the case, the statement said. Names will not be released at this time, the statement said, and the investigation is ongoing. The cause of the deaths hasn’t been released yet.

Detectives and police officers were still at the home on Oak Lane, which is off Outer Drive near California Avenue in north Oak Ridge, at about 2 p.m.. Thursday.

There’s been a white hatchback parking in our culdesac on Jarrett Ln just sitting there all night for days in a row. Kind of makes me nervous now.

Sitting with people in it. I think it was 3 nights in a row. We know they were there until at least 2 in the morning when we went to bed.

Thanks for the coverage of this, John. I live just down the road from Oak Lane and don’t know any of the folks who live there, but it still makes me sad. I hope it was accidental.
