A presentation this evening will feature a retired drug enforcement agent discussing the opioid drug epidemic.

The presentation is titled “Chasing the Dragon: Understanding the Opium Drug Epidemic in Our Community.” It’s scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the Jefferson Middle School Little Theater in Oak Ridge.

The presentation will be by Neil Morgenstern, a specialist with the Appalachia High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, or AHIDTA. Morgenstern is retired from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

The presentation is for parents of students in grades 7-12 and other interested community stakeholders, a press release said. Students in grades 7-12 may attend with a parent or guardian.

There will be a question-and-answer session with the Oak Ridge Police Department and emergency responders after the presentation, an event flyer said.

More information will be added as it becomes available.
