Three people have been charged with especially aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, and conspiracy after a Tuesday afternoon shooting on East Holston Lane, authorities said.

The three people are:

  • Nicholas Strickland, 25, of Oak Ridge;
  • Matthew A. Mashburn, 27, of Knox County; and
  • Nicole Brewer, 19, of Oak Ridge.

The victim of the shooting is male, but his name is not being released, the City of Oak Ridge said. He has been taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville for further treatment and is listed in stable condition.

The shooting was reported at about 12:58 p.m. Tuesday at 104 East Holston Lane.

The Oak Ridge Police Department responded with multiple units and they were at the scene immediately, a press release said.

Officers determined a shooting had occurred.

“A short while later, a sole victim of the shooting was treated at the Methodist Medical Center Emergency Room for gunshot injuries,” the press release said. “Officers on scene determined the suspect in the shooting fled the residence and may have been in the area. A containment perimeter was established and officers initiated a search of the area on foot.”

Later, at about 2:09 p.m., two people were detained and transported to ORPD Headquarters, the press release said. One of them is believed to be the shooting suspect, authorities said.

A level II lockdown of Oak Ridge High School was implemented by Oak Ridge Schools. After both suspects were in custody, the lockdown was lifted; at no time does ORPD believe ORHS students or staff were in any danger, the press release said.

“The investigation is open and ongoing; no further information is available for release at this time,” the release said.

East Holston Lane is near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Hillside Road in the Highland View neighborhood.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the shooting.

Note: We have a newer story here with more information from arrest warrants.

More information will be added as it becomes available.

    Many thanks to ORPD for catching the suspects, but also for alerting the school so we could keep students out of harm’s way.
