Sound Company, the Children’s Performing Choir of Oak Ridge, has announced audition dates for its 2016-2017 season. Sound Company is seeking singers who will be in grades 1-12 this fall.

Auditions will be held on three dates: Friday, July 1, and Friday, July 15, between noon and 2 p.m., following the group’s annual Show Camp events, and on Saturday, August 27, beginning at 9 a.m. The auditions will be at the Historic Grove Theater/High Places Community Church at 123 Randolph Road in Oak Ridge.

Those who are interested in auditioning should contact Janelle Bell at (865) 387-1583 or [email protected]. Online registration and additional information is available at www.soundcompanytn.net.

Singers should come prepared to sing at least 16 bars of a song. An accompanist will be available. Suggested numbers may be found under “Auditions” on the Sound Company website or the Sound Company Facebook page.

Sound Company is a multi-age performing choir based in Oak Ridge. Comprised of children ranging from grades 1-12, Sound Company performs in Oak Ridge, Knoxville, and other areas in East Tennessee. The choir has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in the summer of 2017.

The group’s repertoire is wide-ranging, and includes classical, pop, show tunes, folk songs, multi-cultural music, and more, a press release said. Its members come from schools and communities all over the East Tennessee area.

Sound Company consists of four choirs: Sound Company Too, grades 1-2; Juniors, grades 3-5; Etc., grades 6-8; and the Seniors, grades 9-12. The group puts on two fully-staged productions a year, in addition to several other performances in the area. Rehearsals take place on Monday afternoons/evenings at the Historic Grove Theater.

Sound Company has performed with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra, the Oak Ridge Civic Ballet, and the Knoxville Opera Company’s Rossini Festival. They also sang in the 100th Anniversary Titanic Memorial Tribute at the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge. The group has traveled to Switzerland to sing with its sister choir, StimmWerkBande, and has hosted the Swiss choir when it has traveled to the United States.

For information or to register for Show Camp, June 27-July for rising K-6 grades, and July 11-15 for rising K-12 grades, visit the Sound Company webpage and click on the Show Camp or contact Peggy Hamby at (423) 215-4525 or [email protected].
