A Knoxville man has been charged with attempted murder after a Tuesday shooting in Oak Ridge that left a woman with a gunshot wound to her ear, authorities said.

The alleged shooting was reported at about 12:04 p.m. Tuesday at 107 Pacific Road.

Besides attempted murder, Eric Wilson, 42, of Knoxville, has also been charged with aggravated assault, the Oak Ridge Police Department said in a press release.

The shooting allegedly occurred during a dispute. Wilson fled the home in a vehicle, and authorities soon learned he might be on his way to a home in Morgan County. So, the ORPD altered authorities there.

A short time later, Oak Ridge Police Department detectives were able to contact Wilson, who was at a family member’s home in Coalfield, the press release said. He was eventually taken into custody there by Morgan County deputies.

Wilson was brought to Oak Ridge, where he was arrested by the ORPD and taken to the Anderson County Detention Facility in Clinton, where he was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault, the press release said.

The victim, who hasn’t been identified, was taken by ambulance to Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge for her gunshot wound.

The ORPD said the investigation is ongoing, and no further information will be released.

Pacific Road is off Pennsylvania Avenue just west of New York Avenue.

More information will be added as it becomes available.
