Anderson County Chamber of Commerce

American Employer Group, or AEG, is moving from Oak Ridge to Clinton, relocating more than 90 employees, officials said Tuesday. The move was announced by the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce.

AEG is now located at 439 South Charles Seivers Boulevard in Clinton. It was previously located in Jackson Plaza, Oak Ridge’s tallest business building on Oak Ridge Turnpike.

“Although we enjoyed our time in Oak Ridge, we needed a larger space due to our recent growth,” said Anne Heath, AEG vice president of operations and finance. “We are excited to have the Clinton community be a part of our future success.”

American Employer Group specializes in a wide range of business solutions, including human resources outsourcing, workers’ compensation, payroll services, and more, the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce said.

AEG, a part of the AUI Inc. family of companies, “grew out of a desire to take the insurance philosophy of asset protections and expand it in order to provide a more comprehensive approach to business services,” a press release said.

AEG serves clients all over the United States, the press release said. It said positions are available with AEG for skilled and professional individuals who share the goal of helping clients and their businesses. More information is available at www.aegpeo.com.

More information will be added as it becomes available.

Well there goes an almost $80,000 IDB project leaving town after only 5 short years 3 months after their maturity. Really, is this how our leaders invest the money stolen from the citizens of Oak Ridge? Does anyone provide audits any longer?

Who knows what’s happening over there in Jackson Plaza?

Appalachian Underwriters has been involve in a number of lawsuits during the past few years including with state governments. I’ve heard rumors of poor business and employment practices. And didn’t AUI receive a chunk of corporate welfare to move to Oak Ridge but did not hire the number of people they said they would. Now their subsidiary, AEG, is moving to Clinton even though there is vacant space in the AUI-owned building we know as Jackson Plaza.

Perhaps my concerns are nonsensical or without merit, but who knows what’s going on over there.

You can look at it that way. It is only tax dollars. I see it as theft. Money is funneled to a special interest then it is abused. And people are worried that living people getting food stamps are working. Wait for the increase in crime here. There is talk this mass-exodus has just begun. Protomet entertaining other locations, Pro2Serve downsizes, Copper Cellar going to give a try at casual dining with a seasonal crowd if you believe that.

Ray, if the “mass-exodus has just begun” why are you still here. You could set an example, show us how it’s done and just leave town now before it’s too late. Please.
            Thank you.
