Basketball: Undefeated in district, Oak Ridge boys, girls beat Anderson County

The Oak Ridge boys and girls basketball teams both beat Anderson County on Friday, and both teams are now 4-0 in district games.

The undefeated Wildcats (11-0, 4-0 District 3-AAA) defeated the Mavericks 79-44.

And the Lady Wildcats (6-2, 4-0) beat the Lady Mavericks 58-31.

Oak Ridge junior Tee Higgins had the game high with 19 points in the boys game. Junior Tajion Jones scored 17, again hitting five three-pointers, as he did on Tuesday at Powell, according to Oak Ridge Wildcats.

The Wildcats outscored the Mavericks (7-5, 0-3) by 22-14 in the third quarter and by 30-7 in the fourth.

In the girls game, the Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Mavericks (2-9, 1-2) 16-1 in the first quarter and were ahead 30-12 at halftime.

Sophomore Mykia Dowdell had 14 of Oak Ridge’s 30 points in the first half, and she finished with a game-high 24 points.

Oak Ridge has more district games on Tuesday, December 15, at Gibbs High School. The girls game starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday, and the boys game begins at 7:30 p.m.
