See Oak Ridge qualifiers, schedule for state track meet

Oak Ridge Wildcats Track Class AAA Sectional 2015

The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association has published the list of qualifiers, their performances in sectionals, and the schedule for the state track meet in Murfreesboro this week.

Here are the top qualifiers for Oak Ridge, starting with the boys, from the four sectionals, or sub-state competitions. Oak Ridge competed at a sectional at Hardin Valley Academy on Saturday, May 9. The top four competitors at sectionals moved on to the state meet.

The state track meet events have fields of 16 competitors from across Tennessee.

Boys long jump—3rd, Malik Hardy, a senior at Oak Ridge High School, with a jamp of 22-01.25. The top two seeds are Weldon Wright, a senior at Hardin Valley (22-08.25), and Bailey Overbay, a senior at Morristown-East (22-04.50).

Boys 4×800-meter relay—4th, Oak Ridge High School, with a time of 8:02.79. The top three seeds are Daniel Boone (8:00.08), Hardin Valley Academy (8:00.47), and Science Hill (8:01.71).

Boys 100-meter dash—12th, Malik Hardy, with a time of 10.99. The top three seeds are Johnathon Johnson, a senior at Melrose (10.57); Zeandre Floyd, a senior at West Creek (10.69); and Terry Wright, a senior at White Station (10.84).

Boys 1,600-meter run—2nd, Wesley Robinson, a senior at Oak Ridge High School, with a time of 4:22.90. The top seed is Adam Barnard, a senior at Daniel Boone (4:20.36), and the third seed is Gavin Hasty, a senior at Brentwood (4:24.56).

Boys 800-meter run—4th, Tyler Boullie, a junior at ORHS, with a time of 1:56.27. The top three seeds are Matt Rainey, a senior at Ravenwood (1:54.09); Gavin Hasty, a senior at Brentwood (1:56.02); and Logan McKenzie, a senior at McMinn County (1:56.24).

Boys 200-meter dash—6th, Malik Hardy, with a time of 22.11. The top three seeds are Johnathon Johnson, a senior at Melrose (21.90); Zeandre Floyd, a senior at West Creek (21.93); and Jaylin Davis, a jurnio at Whitehaven (21.96).

Girls 4×100-meter relay—11th, Oak Ridge High School, with a time of 50.25. The top three seeds are Southwind (48.37), Hardin Valley Acadmey (48.77), and Maryville (49.20).

Girls 4×200-meter relay—8th, Oak Ridge High School, with a time of 1:44.40. The top three seeds are Whitehaven (1:39.16), Southwind (1:41.23), and Houston (1:42.43).

Girls 800-meter run—10th, Abbey Greenhalgh, a sophomore at Oak Ridge High School, with a time of 2:24.39. The top three seeds are Celine Rone, a senior at Arlington (2:15.13); Shian Mallory, a junior at Houston (2:16.79); and Hailey Hendry, a junior at Brentwood (2:19.94).

Girls 200-meter dash—12th, Lauren Smallwood, a senior at Oak Ridge High School, with a time of 26.06. The top three seeds are Maia McCoy, a senior at Whitehaven (24.21); Jordan Ray, a junior at Southwind (24.32); and Kiana Davis, a senior at Ooltewah (24.86).

The girls track finals start at 3 p.m. (CDT) Thursday, May 21, at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. The boys track finals start at 3 p.m. Friday, May 22.

The Division I Class AAA long jump, which features Hardy, is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday.

Three students from Anderson County High School are also competing in the state track meet.

Melissa Saganich, a senior at Anderson County High School, is the fourth seed in the girls pole vault, with a seed mark of 10-00.00.

Madison McCoy, a junior at Anderson County High School, is the third seed in the girls discus throw, with a seed mark of 121-05.

Derek Flatford, a junior at Anderson County High School, is the 13th seed in the 110-meter hurdles, with a time of 15.57.

Flatford is the 15th seed in the boys 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 40.89.
