Several inches of snow fell in East Tennessee overnight, and there are more closings and delays because of weather and road conditions.
The Y-12 National Security Complex is still clearing some areas at the site. Non-essential employees should delay arrival at the site until 11 a.m. UPF Offsite Offices also should delay until 11 a.m. Personnel are urged to use caution when driving and walking throughout the site and to use designated snow routes.
Anderson County government offices will be closed Thursday. The Roane County Courthouse is also closed.
City of Oak Ridge offices will open at noon, except for the Senior Center and Oak Ridge Public Library, which will be closed all day.
UCOR and UCOR subcontractor work activities will begin at 11 a.m.
The U.S. Department of Energy Oak Ridge Office said the following is in effect for OSTI, ORO, EM Oak Ridge Site Office, NE Oak Ridge Site Office, and the ORNL Site Office: Delayed opening until 10 a.m. Liberal leave is authorized as is telework if you have a situational telework agreement in place. These instructions will be updated no later than 9 a.m. if conditions warrant.
ORAU’s Oak Ridge offices will be opening at noon. Employees are urged to drive safely to the office.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Department said the heavy snowfall had resulted in significant accumulations overnight, and roads are snow-covered and dangerous.
TDOT crews are plowing the state highways and interstates. The Anderson County Highway Department is working once again on the secondary roads in the county.
“Please do no drive until road conditions improve,” the Sheriff’s Department said.
The Roane County Office of Emergency Services and Homeland Security reported last night that roads in Roane County were very slick and snow-covered.
It’s the fifth winter storm in East Tennessee in just two weeks. The winter weather has led to days of closings for schools, government offices, and some businesses.
