It was a painful loss, a tearful way to end the season.

But the Robertsville Middle School Rams coaching staff tried to console their football team after a 20-16 championship loss to the CAK Warriors at Blankenship Field on Thursday night.

If you put everything you had into the game, the coaches said, then “hold your head high.”

The Rams finished the year with a 6-2 record. They lost one game in the regular season to Rhea County, and they beat CAK 14-8 during the regular season, said first-year head coach James Branson.

“This whole season, I don’t think there was a lot expected of them,” Branson said. “They compete. They came ready to play.

“I truly believe they left everything on the field.”

The RMS Rams were named the TVAC Middle School Runner Up after the Thursday night game. They also won the City Championship a few weeks ago.

Branson said it was a challenge to beat the Warriors twice. CAK is a well-coached team with good players, he said.

Branson said about two dozen of the roughly 40 Rams will be going to the high school next year.

More information will be added as it becomes available.

Jordan Graham Touchdown Run

Running back Jordan Graham (6), an RMS eighth-grader, scored first on a touchdown run for the Rams during a TVAC Championship game against the Warriors at Blankenship Field on Thursday as Garrett Bloom (6) of CAK tried to tackle him.
