The Anderson County Commission will consider extending the tax increment financing agreement for the former Oak Ridge Mall from 20 years to 30 on Monday morning.

The Anderson County Operations Committee recommended approving the 10-year TIF extension during a meeting last week. The TIF would use new property tax revenues generated at the mall site and 120 surrounding acres included in the TIF area to help pay for the redevelopment.

Also Monday, the County Commission will consider appointing someone to fill the vacancy left when newly elected Commissioner Chris Phillips resigned to return to the county government as budget and accounts director. Phillips was one of two commissioners elected August 7 in District 4, which includes Lake City, Briceville, and Rosedale. Tim Isbel was re-elected in that district, and former Commissioner Zach Bates did not seek re-election.

The Anderson County Commission will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 20, for its quarterly daytime meeting at Room 312 in the Anderson County Courthouse in Clinton. Presentations by Anderson County EMS Director Nathan Sweet start at 9 a.m. See the regular meeting agenda here. See the consent agenda here.
