Edith Francis Harmening, age 96 of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, April 2, at Tennova Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.
Edith was an educator for many decades in the classroom and the Central Office. She had a great love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Edith also had a great love for her church, South Clinton Baptist Church, where she was a member.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack Kammie Clark Sr. and Jessie Gladys Clark; husband, Cecil Harmening; daughter, Quindal Miller; brothers, J.B. Clark, Raleigh Clark, and Mack Kammie Clark Jr.; and sisters, Sally London and Georgia Hill.
Edith is survived by her son, Mike Harmening and wife Patti, of Clinton; daughter, Cecilia Carden and husband Eddy, of Knoxville; son-in-law, Herb Miller of Chattanooga; and sister, Polly Guy and husband Spurgeon, of Oak Ridge. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kim Waggoner and husband Kenneth, Mike Carden and wife Carol, Debbie Glenn and husband Matt, Robbie Harmening, Megan Thomas and husband Patrick, Ty Harmening and wife Tiffany, Christin Miller, and Andy Miller; as well as great- grandchildren, Sydney, Molly, Tanner, Emma, Olivia, Jacob, Drew, Zachary, Trevor, Tucker, Clara, Shollie, and Ella.
Edith’s family received her friends on Friday, April 4, at South Clinton Baptist Church from 6 to 8 p.m. with her Celebration of Life immediately following at 8 p.m. with Rev. Roger Pugh officiating. Interment will be Saturday, April 5, at 10 a.m. at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Powell.
