The Oak Ridge Civic Music Associationâ€™s Chamber Series concert on Saturday features the Doric String Quartet. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. at Oak Ridge Associated Universities Pollard Auditorium.
The Doric members are Alex Redington and Jonathan Stone, violins; HÃ©lÃ¨ne ClÃ©ment, viola; and John Myerscough, cello. The program includes Haydnâ€™s String Quartet in B-flat, Opus 76 No. 4Â â€œSunriseâ€; Leos Janacekâ€™s String Quartet No. 1 â€œKreutzer Sonataâ€; and the Franz Schubert Quartet in G (D. 887).
The group spends time sharing their talents, techniques, and musical wisdom with young musicians in the area. Oak Ridge Symphony cellist Alicia Randisi-Hooker and her â€œCello Leap Studioâ€ is making arrangements for the quartetâ€™s weeklong residency here.
The quartet will be working with individual students as well as string students at Oak Ridge High School, and the group will meet with high school students whoÂ are members of the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra and with students at the University of Tennessee School of Music.
