Obituary: Eugene Ray Richards

Eugene Ray Richards, age 75, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at his home.

Mr. Richards was born May 31, 1938 in Belington, W.V.

He worked as a residential builder in the construction business, and his hobbies included gardening and hunting.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Richards and Nina Simons Richards; by a daughter, Bonita Sage; by a son Daryl Richard; by a grandson, Richard Sage; by sisters, Willa, Grace, Alice and Laura; and by brothers, Roy and Charlie Richards.

He is survived by a daughter, Marie Cooley of Oliver Springs; by sons, Allen Richards of Oliver Springs and Jacob Richards and wife Brooklyn, of Oak Ridge; by grandchildren, Isabella, Alex, Reanna, Andrew and Greg; and by six great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by a brother, Joe Richards and wife Judy of New Mexico; by sisters, Una Richards of Ohio and June Bunch of Ohio; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

The family received friends Saturday, March 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. A memorial service followed at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Seiber officiating.
