Danny Charles Williams Sr., age 66, of Oak Ridge passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Danny was born May 26, 1947, in Knoxville, the son of Charles Ralph and Mary Louise Williams. He was employed for many years at K-25 in Oak Ridge and later by Cornerstone of Recovery in Louisville, Tenn. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors, and had a soft spot for many family pets over the years.
Danny is preceded in death by his father, C.R. Williams, and is survived by his wife of 49 years Carolyn Lyndon Williams of Oak Ridge; his mother Mary Louise Williams of Oak Ridge; two sons, Danny “Chuck” Williams Jr. of Oak Ridge, and John Williams and his wife Cinnamon of Oak Ridge; one sister Sonya Morgan of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Melanie Williams, Lynn Williams, and Gunnar Williams; four brothers-in-law, Bill Lyndon and his wife Nancy of Sheffield, Ala., Ronnie Lyndon and his wife Glenda of Florence, Ala., and Jerry Lyndon of Florence, Ala., and John Lyndon and his wife Ann of Florence, Ala.; and special friends Wanda Green, Mary K. Lacy, and Phyllis DeLay.
A celebration of Danny’s life was held Friday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. The family received friends prior to the service from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial gifts to be made to the Bill, Andy, and Polly Fund c/o Cornerstone of Recovery, 1214 Topside Road, Louisville, TN 37777.
