Obituary: Roger Lee Hinkle

Roger Lee Hinkle, age 59, a resident of the Frost Bottom Community in Anderson County, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

Roger was born on Feb. 22, 1954, in the New River section of Campbell County. He grew up and lived in New River until his move to Atlanta, Ga. He later moved to Dalton, Ga., and began his employment in the carpet manufacturing industry. He was employed as a supervisor at Cornet Carpet Mill of Dalton until his retirement in 1997. Following his retirement, he and his family moved back home to Tennessee.

He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and especially a grandson, Roger Andrew Richard.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Hinkle Phillips and by a son-in-law, Daryl Richard.

Roger is survived by his wife, Janice Rickett Hinkle of Oliver Springs; by his father, Elmer Jeffers of Oneida; by a daughter, Tracie Richard of Oliver Springs; by grandchildren, Roger Andrew Richard, Reanna Marie Richard, and Alexander Ethan Richard; and by a great-grandson, Odin Richard.

He is also survived by a sister, Suzanne Carroll of New River; by brothers, Ronnie Hinkle and wife Vernice, of Oliver Springs, Hobert Lynn Phillips of Wartburg, Byrd Phillips and wife Loretta, of Oliver Springs, and Sherman Phillips and wife Susan, of Clinton; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Friendly Welcome Baptist Church in Frost Bottom.
