She enjoyed gardening and fishing. She was an avid crafter, enjoying many mediums, especially crocheting and making hand-made teddy bears. She was also an accomplished seamstress and tailor-made clothes for others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant son, Harold Kelley, and siblings, Kathleen and Clyde.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas Eugene Cottrell, with whom she would have celebrated 53 years of marriage in May. She is also survived by sons, Darrell Kelley of Karns and Ron Kelley and wife Barbara of Powell; daughter, Kathy Mayes and husband David of Knoxville; sisters, Lorene Jordan and husband Mike of Oak Ridge and Bobbie Gambrell of Oliver Springs; four grandchildren, Ryan Kelley and Lindsey Kelley of Powell, Matthew Kelley of Powell and Jason Mayes, serving with the U.S. Army in South Korea; and three great-grandchildren, Thomas Mayes, Nathan Mayes, and Andrew Mayes of Jacksonville, N.C.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with David Mayes officiating. The family asks that any memorials be made in her memory to the Arthritis Foundation.
