Peggy Ann Underwood, age 62, a resident of Harriman, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

Peggy was born Sept. 24, 1951, in Roane County. She was a lifelong resident of this area.

She worked at Berkline Inc. and Roane Hosiery as a seamstress and most recently in the food service business as a restaurant manager.

Mrs. Underwood was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, taking care of family, crafts, shopping, and fishing.

She was a member of the Kellytown Baptist Church.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Gomaze Taylor Sr. and Laura Tuck Taylor; by sisters, Alice Marie Taylor, Mary Morgan, and Shirley Taylor; and by brothers, Gomaze Taylor Jr., Billy Joe Taylor, and William Thomas “Red” Taylor.

She is survived by her husband, Wendell Wright of Harriman; by daughters, Laura Pope and husband Bobby, of Oliver Springs, Sondra Langley and husband Vernon, of Lenoir City; by a son, Jeffery Wright of Oliver Springs; and by grandchildren, Andrew and Bailee Pope, Ryan Vought, Zackary Langley, Tyler Langley, Haley Wright, and Abby Wright.

Peggy is also survived by sisters, Helen Daugherty of Harriman, and Ruth Loveday and husband Dennis, of Harriman; by brothers, Charles Taylor and wife Cathy, of Oliver Springs, David Taylor of Washburn, and Jerry Taylor and wife Linda, of Harriman; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 24, between 5 and 7 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with Rev. Mack Smith and Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Oliver Springs Cemetery.

The family expresses their gratitude to the nurses at the Oak Ridge Dialysis Center for all the help during Peggy’s illness. Sharp Funeral Home is serving the family of Peggy A. Underwood and an online guest book is available at www.sharpfh.com.
