Margaret Ann Carr

Margaret Ann Carr, 76, of Oak Ridge, passed away on Jan. 4, 2014, at NHC Health Care.

She was born on March 21, 1937, to parents Samuel B. and Bessie Anderson Soard in Morristown, Tenn.

Margaret Ann was a ceramic artist who operated Creations by Carr until her retirement. She enjoyed camping and fishing and in earlier years enjoyed competitive golf. Margaret Ann was also instrumental in establishing her husband’s public accounting practice in Oak Ridge in 1972.

Margaret Ann was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Frank Soard, Dorothy Soard, and Velma Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, Willard L. Carr of Oak Ridge; children, David Bradley Carr (Amy) of Knoxville; Wade A. Carr (Angie) of Knoxville; John Hall of Bakersfield, Calif.; stepchildren for whom she loved and cared for as her own, Mitzi Carr Watt (Bryan) of Lenoir City, and David Wayne Carr (Ellen) of Oak Ridge; siblings, Alma Jean Soard, Harold Soard (Peggy), and Phyllis Smith (Fred), all of Oak Ridge; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 9, from 5-7 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with the memorial service beginning at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Tim Bounds officiating. The interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Pat Summit Foundation, 625 Market Street, Suite 1400, Knoxville, TN (www.patsummitt.org).
