Obituary: Cecil Louise Ivy

Cecil Louise Ivy, age 94, a resident of Oliver Springs, departed her earthly walk and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at her home.

Mrs. Ivy was born on April 29, 1919, in Eldorado, Kansas. She lived most of her life in Los Angeles, Calif., before moving to Oliver Springs.

She was blessed with a good education, and before her retirement she was employed for many years with both the Los Angeles County and Los Angeles City Health Departments.

She loved working and taking care of her family. In her leisure, she could be found fishing with family and friends.

She was a faithful Christian and a member of the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Ivy was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Jordan and Myrtle Louise Mims Jordan; by a son, James Michael Baker; by a daughter-in-law, Gladys Harris; and by a granddaughter, Yolanda Louise Harris; by grandsons, Anthony John Thomas and Delray Harris; and by a great-grandson, Uribe Harris.

She is survived by sons, Andrew Wesley Harris of Los Angeles, Calif., and Kenneth Eugene Baker of Oliver Springs; by daughters, Marirhetta Harris of Youngstown, Ohio, and Winifred Thomas of Oliver Springs.

She was also blessed with 14 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
