Dennis Gene “Denny” Carroll, age 65, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Carroll was born in the New River community in Anderson County, on Nov. 27, 1947. He grew up and lived in Rosedale before moving to Oliver Springs, where he has continued to live.
Dennis was a retired residential builder and painter. His greatest pleasure came from working and going to church. He was a faithful Christian and a member of the Big Mountain Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Carroll and Oneida Oakes Carroll; by a grandson, Travis Jackson; by a brother, Jackie Ray Myers; and by sisters, Deborah Carroll, Jacqueline Davis, Iva Lois Carroll, Iris Daphine Foster, and Sheila Gail Carroll.
Mr. Carroll is survived by his wife of 33 years, Euvena Carroll of Oliver Springs; by his children, Curtis Jackson and wife Monica, of Karns, Jamie Carroll and Mary Rebecca Roberts, both of Sunbright; by step-daughters, Randi Longmire of Oak Ridge and Melissa Longmire of Oliver Springs, who served as his caregiver; and by his grandchildren, Zack Jackson, Matthew Jackson, Joshua Silvey, Hannah Nicole Carroll, Melony and Summer Roberts.
He is also survived by brothers, David Lynn Carroll and wife Mary Ann, of Young Harris, Ga., and Richard Dewayne Carroll of Ball Ground, Ga.; by sisters, Patricia Ann Davis of Oliver Springs, Julia Lee Todd and husband Doug, of Virginia, and Yvonna May Tinker and husband Joseph, of Coalfield; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friends.
The family received friends Sunday, Nov. 24, between 5 and 7 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 25, at noon at the Big Mountain Baptist Church with Pastor Dewey Brown officiating. Burial and graveside services will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
