Michael Andrew “Andy” Tinker

Michael Andrew “Andy” Tinker, 38, of Oak Ridge, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Andy was a member of Middle Creek Baptist Church and was employed by Melhorn Trucking Co.

He was a well-traveled child attending school in Germany, Kentucky, Kansas, and Tennessee while his father served in the military. He attended Oak Ridge High School, where he was a member of the Wildcats football team. Andy graduated from Coalfield High School in 1993, where he also played football.

Andy was preceded in death by grandparents, Arnold and Mae Walls and Sanford Tinker.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by many, including the loves of his life, daughters Amber Lynn and Haley Marie Tinker of Powell; parents, Melanie Walls of Oak Ridge and Art (Nancy) Tinker of North Carolina; grandmother, Jean Tinker of Clinton; brother, Patrick Tinker; sister, Sabrina (Mark) Rice; niece, Isabella Rice; aunts, Brenda Jackson and Susan Tinker; uncles, Joe Tinker, Royce, Don, and Shannon Walls; numerous cousins and friends; and special lifelong friend Paul T. Mayton.

The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at Middle Creek Church in Coalfield. The funeral service followed at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Ronald Guthrie officiating. The interment was Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Davis Cemetery, Coalfield.

The pallbearers were Paul Mayton, Matthew Jones, Ben Jackson, Mark Rice, Patrick Tinker, and Jason Askins.
