A new pie store in west Oak Ridge has its roots in food cooked for an international drag racing team.
Terry Hope is a member of Al-Anabi, and the new business, Secret City Pies, grew out of the cooking that he does for the racing team, his wife Leisa said during a Tuesday morning ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Secret City Pies opened in August at 1990 C Oak Ridge Turnpike, next to United Grocery Outlet. It sells savory and sweet pies, some cookies and bread, and lunch boxes, sandwiches, and chili dogs, Leisa Hope said.
It’s the couple’s first solo entrepreneurial operation. Terry Hope is the brother of Oak Ridge City Council member Chuck Hope, who is also a small business owner.
Secret City Pies serves lunches and also delivers. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Pie prices range from $15 to $18 for a nine-inch pie, and from $4.59 to $5.99 for a five-inch pie.
Visit Secret City Pies on Facebook or at the store’s website at secretcitypies.com. You’ll see an assortment of pies that include sweet potato, pumpkin, apple, and bacon pecan, as well as chicken pot pie and shepherd’s pie.
