Orangie Jean Craig, age 95, a resident of Clinton and formerly of Oliver Springs, passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Craig was born on Nov. 30, 1917, in Robbins, Tenn. She later moved to Oneida, where she continued to live until her move to Oliver Springs in 1932.
Following the move to Oliver Springs she married her husband, Glen Craig, in 1938.
Before her retirement, she was employed as a sales clerk in several area dry good stores.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband Glen Craig, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Mearida Ellis and Lou Rena Ellis; by a daughter, Jackie Baiano; by a grandson, Jimmy Harvey; by brothers, Clarence, Virgil, and Paul Ellis; and by sisters, Arbie Anderson, Faye Heacker, and Lovell Ellis.
Jean is survived by her children, Jerry Craig and wife Phyllis of Morgantown, W.V., and Linda Mercer and husband Buddy of Clinton; by grandchildren, Andrea Gouge, Sadie Mercer, Mechelle Craig, Kelley Dickens, Michael Simmons, Deanna Johnson, Johnny Mercer, and Maria Mercer; by great-grandchildren, Amber Moore, Jonathan Gouge, Devin Dickens, Colt Simmons, Stephanie St. Clair, Chris, and Blake Cunningham; and by great-great-grandchildren; Callie and Caitlyn Moore, Kaylee Simmons, Carmen, Caden, and Scarlett Cunningham.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Oct. 8, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Garvan Walls officiating.
Burial and graveside services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
