Grace Margaret Finley Crabtree

Grace Margaret Finley Crabtree, age 74, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013.

She was born March 16, 1939, in Clinchmore, Tenn.

She was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church in Lake City. Grace loved crossword puzzles and was an avid reader who passed her love of books on to her children and grandchildren. She was a beloved grandmother who showed each grandchild they were loved and cherished by reading to them and baking cookies, and made any day better by sitting with Mammaw under the strawberry quilt.

Grace is preceded in death by her husband Hoyle Crabtree; sons, Richard and Tracy Crabtree; and granddaughter, Rebecca Crabtree; parents, Lester and Rosa Finley; brothers, Austin and Tommy Finley; and sister, Pearl Choate.

Grace is survived by her daughters, Pamela and husband Steve Goans; Linda and husband Bill Spitzer; daughter-in-law, Penny Crabtree; grandchildren, Jason Goans and fiancé Amanda Wynn, Kaylee Crabtree, and Rachel Crabtree, all of Clinton, Casey Spitzer and great-granddaughters Hailey and Mackenzie of Brighton, Colo., Leslie and husband Kristofer Hagan and great-granddaughter Madeleine of Great Falls, Mont.; sisters, Katie and husband Larry Watts of Lafollette, Pauline Gibson of Jacksboro; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and family members.

Grace’s family will receive her friends on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 5-7 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary, with her funeral service to follow at 7 p.m., with Rev. Larry Watts officiating. Her interment will be Friday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at Harness Cemetery in Caryville.

In consideration of flowers the family would prefer charitable donations be made to Children’s Hospital in Knoxville.

Jones Mortuary in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
