John Bumgardner, age 88, of Clinton, passed away on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved being a jokester.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Georgia Bumgardner; wife of 58 years, Virginia Bumgardner; sons, Johnny Lynn and Gary Bumgardner; and brothers, Ed and Clyde Bumgardner, and Clayton Murray.
John is survived by his daughters, Kathy and Jim Cardwell of Clinton, and Linda and Robert Jandzinski of Johnson City, Tenn.; brothers, Ted and Jerry Murray, both of Clinton; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Anna Mae Brummett; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Mark Evans, Jon Albright, Keith Jeffers, Brian Lee, Josh Minton, and Jeff Monroe, and the honorary pallbearers were Hunter Evans, Austin Minton, Colt Carson, and Ally Evans.
John’s family received his friends on Sunday, Sept. 1, from 5–7 p.m., and his funeral service followed at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with Rev. Chris Albright and Rev. Donnie Disney officiating.
John’s interment was Monday, Sept. 2, at 10 a.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church cemetery in Clinton with full military honors.
Jones Mortuary in Clinton was in charge of all arrangements.
