AAUW Dance Program

An AAUW luncheon meeting today features a fun program, the introduction of college scholarship recipients, and the induction of new officers, a press release said.

AAUW member Peggy Emmett, who has won many regional and national dance competitions, and her dance partner Sam Gordon will give a program on dance, the release said. They will perform some of the routines that Emmett, with her interest in theater, has created, the release said.

Gordon owns Go Dance Studio on Shaeffer Road in Knoxville.

It’s the last AAUW meeting of the year until September.

Roane State Community College scholarship recipients will be announced, and the RSCC Education Award recipient and the named AAUW Educational Opportunities Fund honoree will be introduced.

Recognition will also be given to the donor of a substantial gift to the branch’s Local Education Fund.

AAUW officers for the 2013-2014 year are Karen Fuhrman, president; Fay Martin, membership vice president; Virginia Jones, programs vice president; Mary Uziel, treasurer; and Peggy Emmett, secretary.

The luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church. For more information, call Marge Congdon at (865) 483-3120 or Mary Uziel at (865) 483-1043.

AAUW supports women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. Members of the public are welcome at meetings.
