To the Editor:
“There are women who make things better… simply by showing up. There are women who make things happen. There are women who make their way. There are women who make a difference. And women who make us smile. There are women of wit and wisdom who—through strength and courage—make it through. There are women who change the world everyday…†-Ashley Rice
Mother. Grandmother. Aunt. Sister. Daughter. Friend.
No matter what name she goes by, she has always been there to support you.
Now you can put all the love she has shown you into the walls of another family’s home.
What do the special women in your life have in common with a Habitat home? They create greater family stability with their presence. They bring a sense of comfort and safety wherever they are. And they increase our value just by being there.
National Women’s Build Week is this week (May 4-12), and we want to celebrate all the wonderful women in our lives. Habitat of Humanity of Anderson County extends this opportunity to honor or remember a special woman in your life by making a contribution in her name. These donations will be used to fund critical construction projects and operational expenses. For your donation, HFHAC will send her a special acknowledgement of your gift.
Habitat leaders have long held the belief that homeownership leads to better outcomes for young children and families. We have found that homeownership results in the children of owners achieving math scores up to 9 percent higher, reading scores up to s7 percent higher, and reductions in children’s behavior problems of up to 3 percent. These families have a real chance at breaking the cycle of poverty, with your help. And more than half of all Habitat homes are owned by women.
Please make your gift today to honor that special woman in your life. Gifts should be mailed to Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County, 111 Randolph Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Together, we can build more than affordable houses—we can build stronger families as well.
