An event organized this weekend by the Clinton Rotary Club and Timely Topics will feature “down-home wit and wisdom, with lots of laughs along the way,” a press release said.
It’s called “The Talk is Cheap Tour,” and it features Jim Claborn, Bill Landry, Sam Venable, and Elizabeth Rose.
It starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ritz Theater in Clinton. General admission tickets are $15, and VIP tickets are $25. The VIP tickets include preferred seating and a reception at the Clinton Civic Center to meet the performers and friends, the press release said.
Here is more information from a press release:
The four friends gave their first performance of “Talk is Cheap†in August 2012 and had a request for a second show before they even took the stage together. The calls keep coming, so the tour continues. It is hardly surprising that they are in such a great demand; the four are some of the best-known and best-loved performers in East Tennessee.
Local son Jim Claborn is known as a popular history teacher, Davy Crockett re-enactor, storyteller, and good ol’ boy. After hosting the beloved Heartland Series on WBIR-TV for 25 years, Bill Landry has met more unique characters and has enjoyed more first-hand traditional activities than most and has a bounty of talks to tell of those experiences. Sam Venable shares his wit and wisdom weekly in his popular column in the Knoxville News Sentinel. Elizabeth Rose is a middle school principal in Kingston, who uses her beautiful voice to sing ballads and tell tales.
The show promises to be an evening full of fun and laughter. Each storyteller will take the stage individually and join together at the end for a question-and-answer session.
Tickets are on sale now at Hoskins Drug, Fox Toyota, Real Dry Cleaners, Peoples Bank of the South, and Community Trust Bank, and Anderson County Chamber of Commerce.
The “Talk is Cheap Tour” is jointly sponsored by the Rotary Club to finance youth projects in Anderson County and by Timely Topics for a college scholarship fund.
