An Oak Ridge man allegedly lost his temper while helping his young daughter with her homework on Wednesday and hit her with his fist and a belt, authorities said.

David Lemus Mandujano, 29, of Wadsworth Circle, has been charged with aggravated child abuse. He remained jailed in the Anderson County Detention Facility in Clinton on Sunday evening.

The child told Oak Ridge Police Department Detective David L. Stephens that her father was helping her with her math homework when he lost his temper and began hitting her. Mandujano allegedly punched the girl in her forehead several times, hit her in the back with a belt once, and struck her left arm several times and her face once, according to an arrest warrant filed in Anderson County General Sessions Court.

Stephens said the girl had swelling and redness on the right side of her face, bottom of her back, and complete left arm.

“The injuries are consistent with her statement of abuse,” the warrant said.

Mandujano has a court hearing set for 9 a.m. April 9.
